Outcomes:

The study comprises three cross-sectional surveys conducted in 2019, 2021 and 2023, each using the same questionnaire. On completion of each survey, two sets of outputs will be available:

Amalgamated findings

On completion of each survey stage, key findings from the amalgamated data set (taken from all participating institutions) will be prepared and made available on this web-page. Particular care will be taken to ensure that no institution-specific information can be inferred from the amalgamated data. Amalgamated findings from the 2019 survey will be available on this page in mid 2020.

Confidential institutional findings

Universities will be provided with the confidential analysed survey findings from their institution. This will include a report highlighting key institutional findings (with comparisons to the amalgamated data set across all institutions) and a spreadsheet of findings by survey question. Both items will be strictly confidential and will be shared only with the project's institutional and administrative lead from the university in question.

Amalgamated fidnings: 2019 findings coming soon

2019 findings: thirteen universities participated in the Stage A (2019) Teaching Cultures Survey in early 2019. A second group of around six institutions will also participate in the Stage A survey in October 2019. A summary of key findings from the amalgamated data set from across all 18–20 universities will be made available here in early 2020.

Confidential institutional findings

On completion of each survey stage, participating universities will be provided with:

  • a report outlining the key outcomes for each institution, mapped alongside the amalgamated data for all institutions;
  • a spreadsheet of aggregated findings for each survey question, cut by role, gender, discipline, length of employment at the university, and level of focus on teaching. Where the number of survey participants in a particular group (e.g. a discipline group) is small, categories will be combined to protect anonymity

Both items will be strictly confidential and will be shared only with the project's institutional and administrative lead from the university in question at the close of each survey stage.
